The Grace Behind
Our House.
Grace was born in October 2002 and from the beginning she was a challenge. Because we both work in education, we started to recognize signs that Grace was not developing at the same speed as her peers. By the time Grace was four years old, she had been tested multiple times and diagnosed with autism, cognitive delays, and sensory integration disorder.
Over the years, we’ve seen her grow so much and know that there is plenty more for her to learn. As we get closer to retirement, and Grace is ready to finish high school we know we need to be prepared for the next part of her life.
The Walking With Grace House is a dream community Troy came up with while running. As he logged more miles, the idea of the Walking With Grace House became more than just a dream. We started talking with other families who have young adults with disabilities, trying to find out what their plans were for their adult children. Unfortunately, there are not many options in our area.
Our goal is to change that. To make it possible for families like ours, to move onto the later stages of life, knowing that our adult children will have a place to go when we can no longer take care of them.
